Alois von Reding Was the president of the Helvetic Confederation and a Swiss military officer and politician, he was a general officer at the French invasion of Switzerland and manage to beat the French.

Early life

Reding was born in Schwyz, Switzerland, to Theodor Anton Reding, a lieutenant-colonel in the Switzerland Army, and Magdalena Freuler.

as president

He was elected as president in 1805. He tried to make the country better by making many people join the army. He was replaced with Frederic.

Personal life

Reding subsequently served as Landamann of Schwyz from 1803 to 1805, and again from 1809 to 1810. Reding died in Schwyz on 5 February 1818.
